The Pride of Baltimore I
It was over 33 years ago back in 1985 that the circus was at the Civic Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The circus was advertising that they had a Unicorn. Back then I carried a camera around with me where ever I went.
I arrived early so I killed some time by walking over to the inner harbor. I noticed the Pride of Baltimore 1 and I remembered hearing on the news that she was going on a voyage to Europe in a couple of days. I thought maybe I might not see her for awhile so I thought maybe I should get some shots of her. It was dusk and I didn't have a flash or a tripod so I set my camera on the piers piling for the long exposure. I am sorry to say she never returned. She went down at sea on May 14th, 1986. Sherman's Book Store, 1980's
I loved going to Sherman's Book Store.. Long before the internet, some things were hard to find. If there was a Newspaper or Magazine or a book for that matter that you couldn't find in regular book stores, more than likely Mr. Sherman would have it. He was really quite hip to some really interesting things. If you wanted a poster, you more than likely could find it at Sherman's. Mr. Sherman wasn't the easiest person to get along with. So, it was always fun to watch someone come in and didn't know Mr. Sherman or his store.. He would let people know that his store wasn't a library.

The Last Day of The News American
My dad would have loved the internet. I think he subscribed to every popular magazine.. He bought me a set of encyclopedias, but I think it was more for him, even though he said it was for me.. He also subscribed to both of Baltimore's Newspapers. Back then The Baltimore Sun published twice a day, so he would get the Morning Sun, and then the News American in the afternoon. And, then on Sunday's he would get both papers. I love the internet, but I miss those days.
